I have been making a list of DIY projects I would love to make next time I have some down time from my busy work schedule. These are things I have found online or out on the streets during my travels this summer. 1. I came across these beautiful sequin and beaded framed art pieces. Not sure I could get my own to look as nice as these, but they really inspired me and I would love to try to create something similar for our bathroom. These were hanging on the walls of Ankasa in Soho, NYC. 2. I love this jewelry tree! The colors are so bright and cheery. I love this idea! 3. This tassel garland is so fun. I need to make this asap. I found a great tutorial here. 4. I have dining room chairs very similar to the base of this chair; minus the black sheepskin pad. I think this is a great idea to add some elegance and edge to my boring West Elm chairs. 5. I have always loved Moroccan Poofs but have never had the budget to commit to one. This looks like it would be as fun to make as it would be to have in my living room for overflow guests to perch on.
1. A framed key holder that would be great to put next to your door so you never forget to grab the keys you need! Buy a cheap frame from Etsy. Buy screw in hooks from a hardware store and screw three or four of them in the top of the inside frame. 2. Coffee bean tea lights – saw these on Pinterest and apparently they actually smell amazing. 3. DIY Floral Wallpaper. This would be so cute in a bathroom. Buy a stamp from Etsy – choose your favorite flower, buy your color pallet and create a mix of prints all over your wall using the stamp over and over again. 4. Carolyn’s apartment is full of drift wood. This would be a cute idea for her. You can buy these drawer knobs from Anthropologie, I would buy a range of glass and metal ones and hang my necklaces from it. 5. Ok, this string display was done in an Anthropologie store and my roommate is working on one in her room at the moment. I think teal ombre colors would be so pretty! All you have to do is find a focal point, maybe on the ceiling, and join all of the string pieces. Attach the other ends to points along a wall.
1. While on a road trip through Williamstown, VA, my boyfriend and I stopped off at a winery for a tasting. Rather than buying wine, we bought and old, oak, wine barrel. Once we brought it home, we proceeded to cut the thing in half, sand it, stain it and made it the centerpiece of our living room as our coffee table. 2. I picked up a letter press drawer at an antique shop in NH last year. I cleaned it up and drilled little screws into each slot. I now use it to hang all of my jewelry on. 3. Last holiday season I had a number of holiday parties to attend. Rather than bringing the customary bottle of wine, I brought each host one of the gold leaf, crystal encrusted ornaments that I made from cheep, glass ornaments and a gold leafing kit. 4. My new found obsession when it comes time to decorate a cake is edible gold spray paint. I used it on my sister’s “golden birthday” cake to spay M&M’s to cover the cake. I then sprayed lollipops to use as cake toppers. 5. My boyfriend and I were tired of looking at our cluttered liquor collection. To streamline things, we removed the labels on all of the bottles and replaced them with a bit of chalkboard paint. Now we simple write “Rum” or “Vodka” to indicate the bottle’s contents.
