Weekend Project… Halloween Planning

This year I have endless ideas for a Halloween Costume but I need help narrowing down my choices! I definitely want to hand make my costume with my new sewing machine… These are my favorites right now: Cute Cloud, Toddler in Tiara, Field of Flowers, Poison Ivy, Crystal Ball Reader, Cotton Candy, Haunted Mansion Tightrope Walker, Jessica Rabbit, Lion Tamer….

This halloween I have about a million ideas for themes. My friends want to do a villain night for sure and I am leaning towards doing Captain Hook due to the plethora of Pirate gear our family has from prior trips to the Bahamas Annual Pirate Party. Here are a few other choices I had in mind….

I really like dressing up as literary characters. My favorite costume was Daisy Buchanan a few years back when I borrowed this awesome vintage white and gold sequin dress that has been passed down in my family was was perfect for the occasion. This year I am thinking of following the villain vein with the White Queen from C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe. I really liked the film interpretation of her and would try to mimic it with an ice tiara, some white fur, and an awesome wintery blue short dress. We will see if that works out. Captain Hook is always a good choice but I was also thinking about doing Harley Quinn which is a villain from the early Batman comic books. Now I am no comic book nerd but I do love the classic good vs. evil theme and somehow the villains always seem to have all the fun. So on Halloween, why not aim for that??? Need some help narrowing these down please!

This year, my boyfriend and I are having our house warming party the weekend before Halloween and we decided to make it a Halloween themed occasion. My boyfriend just shaved his beard, leaving a mustache, so he wants to go as a bar-keep from an old western film. So, I’m going as a saloon girl and our dog will be the bandit! When it comes to costumes, I love making my own and HATE the “sexy” version of everything that are available for women at the costume shop or party store. And, yes, while saloon girls were sexy, there was a certain elegance to them that I want to portray with my costume. I particularly like the way Marilyn Monroe looked in River of No Return.
